The Mid-Mo Veterans Express has come together to offer Vietnam Era
Veterans an opportunity for an all-expense paid, one-day travel to Perryville,
Missouri to visit the Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial. This memorial is a full- sized, black granite replica of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, D.C. This opportunity is in no way meant to take away from the wonderful experience of the Missouri Honor Flight but simply another opportunity. We encourage any eligible veteran that has not gone on the Honor Flight to please apply. This event is being organized and conducted by veterans who are members of the Samuel F. Gearhart Detachment of the Marine Corps League, the Roscoe Enloe Post 5 American Legion of Jefferson City, and VFW Post 2657 in Fulton, Missouri.
Our vision is to leave and return on the same day by tour bus travel. Leaving from Courtyard by Marriott, 610 Bolivar Street, Jefferson City, Missouri at 7:30 am, and returning in the late afternoon to the same location. The Veterans will be assigned to different platoons. When we arrive at the memorial site, each Platoon will go to different areas so we can cover the grounds as efficiently as possible. After the veterans have had time to visit the memorial, we will then go to the American Legion Post 133 where a meal will be provided at no cost to the Veteran. We will then reload the buses for the return trip to Jefferson City.
Our mission is to offer an opportunity for Vietnam era veterans to
experience the Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville,
Missouri that has been built in their honor as a tribute to America’s service men and women.
